(KNSI) – A mix of staff, teachers, and community turned Talahi Community School into a bustling assembly line Thursday, packing school supplies into tote cases before students return from summer vacation.
District 742 Assistant Superintendent Nikki Hansen talks about who benefits from the first-ever Ready, Set, School! Initiative. “Tom and Janet Grones donated for Talahi kindergarten through third grade, specifically. And then our Rotaract Club donated the supplies this year as a headline sponsor for our preschool three-year-olds and our preschool four-year-olds.”
The kits were filled with supplies provided by Impacks. They mostly contained traditional school staples such as notebooks, crayons, and glue sticks, but some modern technology, like headphones, snuck its way into each package. The teacher totes are enough for an entire class for the whole school year.
Hansen was beaming as she helped assemble the teacher totes. “I just think this is a really special project. I think it really shows how the community of St. Cloud comes together and supports our students, and this is just another example of that. So, really honored to be a part of the community and a part of this effort.”
Talahi students through third grade are taken care of in full. The preschool packs will be distributed district-wide. The goal is to expand the program to cover more and more students each year.
