(KNSI) – A change to a change order ended up saving Cold Spring about $1,000.
At Wednesday’s city council meeting, five change orders were before the group for the fire hall project. All involve Erickson Electric. They will be contracted to hook up overhead door warning lights, add lights under the eaves on the tower, relocate key pads, drill additional holes for another contractor, and lower the lighting conduit. The work was originally expected to add $16,820. Instead, Administrator Kris Dockendorf says it will set the city back $15,828. All of the work change orders were presented to the council by Nate Bell of Donlar Construction, the project manager.
The council is ready to show off the keystone project. A ribbon cutting ceremony and community open house for the fire hall is scheduled for Saturday, October 11th. The event will close Main Street from 2nd Avenue to the east side of the bridge over the Sauk River near Alexander Park between 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.
At the next council meeting, there will be a public hearing to officially hire Donlar Construction for the remodeling of the government center on Red River Avenue South. It is expected to be completed in two phases. When the work is complete, only city administration and the police department will be left in the building. A new public library is also in the works.
