(KNSI) – Stearns County will debut new accessible voting equipment at polling locations to help voters with disabilities during the County Commissioner District 4 Special Election on August 12th.
According to the Stearns County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office, the ES&S Express Vote ballot marking device is designed to let voters cast their ballots independently and privately. The system is fully compliant with the Help America Vote Act and includes several accessibility features.
The machine has screen magnification to help people with visual impairments. Voters can also listen to the ballot through headphones, navigate using tactile buttons, and utilize a sip-and-puff device for people without the use of their arms or legs.
For more information about the election or the new voting equipment, contact the Stearns County Election Office at 320-656-3920 or email elections@stearnscountymn.gov.
