(KNSI) – KNSI’s Know Your Neighbor will once again be a signature event for National Night Out in St. Cloud.
Know Your Neighbor is a monthly outing in the summertime based on the idea that communities where residents are close to each other will look out for the general well-being of their neighborhood. That could include reporting something suspicious or keeping young kids out of trouble. It moves between various parks in the city.
The series always wraps up on National Night Out in August. Typically, the event has taken place at the Community Outpost in the Southside neighborhood. Earlier this year, a new COP House opened, though. KNSI will be setting up its grill in the latest location, 1010 Park. Bike giveaways, games, a chance to meet officials from the fire and police departments, and a drop in from Mayor Jake Anderson are all part of the plans.
The tie-ins don’t stop there. Tri-County Humane Society will also be at 1010 Park, providing mobile nail trimming services and hosting a microchip clinic. The cost is only $10 per chip. Microchips provide permanent identification for pets and frequently helps Tri-County Humane Society reconnect lost animals with their families.
There are usually 50+ National Night Out block parties in St. Cloud each year on the first Tuesday in August. Some events are larger than others, and drivers need to be aware that some side streets will be off limits until the event is over. That includes 13th Street South in front of the Community Outpost, between 6th Avenue South and the western alley. It will be shut down from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m. In the Seberger-Roosevelt Neighborhood, 24th Avenue North between 4th and 5th Street North will be blocked off from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m.
