(KNSI) — The President of the St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce has been chosen for a national fellowship program.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation selected Julie Lunning for its Business Leads Fellowship, which brings together local business leaders from across the country.

The program is designed to help community leaders connect with national experts and resources to strengthen their local workforce. The focus is on building a talent pipeline to creat pathways for people to develop skills from early childhood all the way through college and into their careers.

Lunning will join 34 other business leaders in the six-month program, where they’ll learn about strategies that have worked in other communities and figure out how to adapt them for their own areas. The goal is to boost economic development by making sure local businesses have access to skilled workers.

When Lunning completes the fellowship, she’ll become part of a network of more than 400 chambers of commerce and business associations from around the nation.
