(KNSI) – Quarry Park visitors can now explore the area’s diverse bird population with professional equipment at no cost, thanks to a generous donation from the Central Minnesota Audubon Society.

The park has launched a new birding kit lending program that provides everything needed for a successful birdwatching experience. Each kit includes high-quality binoculars, a comprehensive Birds of Minnesota field guide, and a notebook for recording sightings. The birding kits can be checked out during staffed hours at the Quarry Park Gatehouse or the Stearns County Parks Office in Waite Park. No reservations are required, and the kits are designed to accommodate both beginners and experienced birders alike. Visitors are invited to report what species they find to help document the park’s feathered friends.

The program takes advantage of Quarry Park’s diverse habitats, which include woodlands, wetlands, and open spaces, making it an important stopover for migratory birds while supporting year-round populations.

For more information about visiting Quarry Park, checking out birding kits, or reporting bird sightings, visit the park’s website.
