(KNSI) – Air quality over St. Cloud is set to take another turn for the worse come Tuesday morning.
The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has issued an alert that will run from 6:00 a.m. on the 29th until Wednesday at 11:00 p.m. The department warns that northwesterly winds will once again pull down ash and soot hanging in the air over Manitoba and Saskatchewan from Canadian wildfires.
The air quality index is expected to dip to the red category, or unhealthy for everyone, to our north. St. Cloud will likely reach the orange tier, which is of concern to sensitive groups, including the elderly, young children, and those with respiratory or cardiovascular illnesses. The MPCA recommends reducing time spent outdoors and limiting physical exertion while the alert is in place.
There have been multiple air quality alerts this week.
