(KNSI) – The great central Minnesota get together is back for another year in Sauk Rapids.
The Benton County Fair starts on Tuesday, but the grounds are already bustling with activity, as most of the exhibits and craft displays were put up yesterday. Some judging is set for Monday inside the 4-H building. Market animals are being weighed and getting a clean bill of health from veterinarians in anticipation of Tuesday morning’s swine show. The FFA Barnyard is set to welcome visitors with an interactive lesson titled “Ag in the Classroom.”
Organizers will ease things into normal operations. The beer garden opens at 11:00 a.m., with the buildings hosting people at noon. Preliminary beef judging will take place in the Show Arena. The Heritage Building is the site for three presentations by Doug Ohman.
Music Bingo will entertain from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., and Ron Dropik plays on the Cottonwood Stage. The fair is truly in full swing by 5:00 when the Midway roars to life for the first time. Lambs and sheep will trot at the Show Arena. The sheriff’s office also wants to showcase its animals. They’ll hold a K9 demonstration at 7:00 in the Activity Area. Immediately before them at 5:00, the fire department highlights the awesome power of the Jaws of Life in a vehicle extraction demonstration.
The entertainment for Tuesday night has acoustic guitarist Dave Lumley on the Cottonwood Stage and the band “IV Play” belting out a mix of rock and pop hits at the Beer Garden.
Monster trucks will jump over, plow through, and climb over anything in their path beginning at 6:30 for the first Grandstand event of 2025.
