(KNSI) – Strong storms swept across Minnesota Sunday afternoon, leaving behind widespread power outages, including in the St. Cloud area.

Xcel Energy reported two large-scale problems in the city as of the early morning hours on Monday. East St. Cloud had an outage affecting 198 customers, with restoration tentatively estimated at 12:30 p.m. Another 193 homes and businesses were dark near 33rd Street South and County Road 136. Isolated outages were reported in Collegeville, Cold Spring, Sartell, and Waite Park.

Xcel says 74,000 customers in total lost power, and crews were in the field immediately to remedy the situation. The utility described conditions as challenging. It reminds people to stay safe by avoiding downed or sagging power lines. Every line should be assumed to be still active and dangerous. To report a downed line, call 800-895-1999.
