(KNSI) – CenterPoint Energy’s Community Safety Grants Program is still chugging along, paying out almost $220,000 across four states in 2025.
Nearly 100 projects were approved during this year’s grant application process. The closest to central Minnesota is in Big Lake. The fire department there is buying equipment to outfit its new tower truck. Some other regional efforts getting a financial boost include Dayton Fire’s purchase of a mobile radio headset communication system. Otsego won a grant for a high-quality mobile radio system. All three departments received the maximum allowed amount of $2,500 from the program.
CenterPoint launched the grants in 2003. Since then, it has paid out roughly $3.5 million.
