(KNSI) – Road work near Cold Spring has started on County Highway 2 between the Sauk River Bridge and County Road 165.
Drivers who use that section of road will be rerouted around the work zone via County Highways 49 and 71, along with County Roads 163 and 165. All area drivers need to be careful and keep an eye out for construction workers when they see orange cones. If drivers can, they’re asked to avoid the area if possible.
The county is putting in erosion control devices and taking out the pavement. After the first phase is complete, crews will switch to resurfacing the most northern mile of County Highway 2, build eight-foot paved shoulders, install right turn lanes at each public intersection, add drainage improvements, and realign two in-place horizontal curves to meet speed limits of 50 miles per hour.
Most of the project should be done by November 7th, weather permitting.
