(KNSI) – A 51-year-old Elk River man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly firing multiple shots into the windows of the Sherburne County Government Center and entering the building.
According to Commander Ben Zawacki, it happened around 9:30 when officers responded to a call of shots fired. The gunfire targeted windows located between the building’s front doors. No one was hurt, and the suspect was taken into custody outside the building as he walked away carrying a long gun. No injuries were reported.
County staff are evaluating the extent of the damage. The Government Center remains an active crime scene, with access to the building, parking lot, and surrounding grounds restricted until investigators complete their work and clear the area.
