(KNSI) – The Stearns County Parks Department and Great River Greening are of a hive mind regarding their collaboration to improve Spring Hill County Park.
The nonprofit is working with the agency to restore 35 acres of prairie and enhance woodlands with an eye on providing a boost to pollinators. Work will take place both this summer and in 2026.
On top of being a help to honeybees, the project should aid other wildlife by restoring their habitat. Native vegetation will serve as a buffer between the surrounding land and the Sauk River. Staff also are excited for the prospect of less mowing and maintenance time on the parcel going forward.
