More Orange Barrels As Sartell Begins Overlay Projects

(KNSI) – Sartell has begun its temporary road construction projects for the year.

Unlike the longer seasonal jobs, maintenance work typically sticks to the first few layers of pavement. Sealcoating deals with superficial cracks and helps keep a road from crumbling into a rough ride. Overlays involve pulling up the blacktop, grinding it until it can be recycled, and then reapplying it as a smooth surface.

You can see the full list of projects selected for maintenance here. Most sites will be controlled with lane shifts or other short-lived disruptions. 13th Avenue North from 2nd Street North to Pinecone Central Boulevard is closed, though.

City staff ask drivers to remain courteous while dealing with construction crews. They also thanked the workers for dealing with the heat and humidity.
