(KNSI) — The business famous for having an abandoned artificial body part hanging on the wall says it is closing its doors.
Security Coin and Pawn owners Martin and Joanne Fulayter are preparing to retire when their lease expires on October 1st.
Martin tells KNSI News they’ve had many unique things brought into the shop over the years, but the most unusual was a wooden leg. “That was actually pawned by a fellow, and he picked it up the first time,” Martin explained. “The second time he pawned it, he left it.”
Nearly 20 years later, it still hangs in the store.
The business started in 1985 and moved to its current location at the corner of West St. Germain Street and 7th Avenue South downtown St. Cloud in 1996. Before that, the shop was located where the Capitol One building stands today.
The Fulayters plan to spend their retirement visiting their children, who live in Colorado, Georgia, and the Twin Cities.
The wooden leg’s retirement destination remains a mystery, but Martin’s collecting hobby is thankfully less macabre. He’s sticking to coins.
