(KNSI) — St. Cloud Subaru has again chosen the Public Safety Foundation as the recipient of its annual Share the Love fundraiser.

On Monday afternoon, the dealership celebrated raising $10,000 to install Rainbow playground equipment at The Place of Hope’s Compassionate Hope Family Center, at 121 Park Avenue. General Manager Bobby Konnight told KNSI News how they came up with the money. “We went around the dealership with a hat, asking employees who wanted to contribute, and Subaru covered the rest.”

He says they wanted to help after realizing on average, nearly 40 kids stayed at the center and had no place to play except a vacant field across the street. “So, we kind of really became really good neighbors here. And seeing what they do as far as taking care of those families on their way to finding a better place. Just to help them.”

After cutting the ribbon on the playground, the dealership presented a check for $95,000 to the Public Safety Foundation. It’s the third year in a row the dealership has picked the organization in charge of the city’s Community Outposts for the Share the Love cash. The Community Outposts serve as neighborhood hubs where residents can access police services, community resources, and support programs.

A second Community Outpost was recently opened at 10-10 Park, and plans are underway to open a third soon at Salem Lutheran Church.
