(KNSI) – CentraCare and the University of Minnesota Medical School are pulling the curtain back on the state’s newest college campus.
This fall, future doctors will hit the books in a complex built just south of CentraCare Plaza. Area residents are being invited to a community open house to check out the facility. It is scheduled for Sunday, July 27th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Organizers have arranged for campus tours, a meet-and-greet with faculty and students, and live music. The event is free with local food trucks on hand to add to the celebration.
University of Minnesota Medical School Dean Dr. Jakub Tolar says, “We’re incredibly proud of this expansion, which wouldn’t be possible without our partnership with CentraCare and the support of the community. Together, we’re training more physicians in innovative ways to serve rural Minnesota-combining academic excellence with community-based care.”
The CentraCare campus is tailored to help the next generation of physicians prepare for a practice in greater Minnesota, where an expected shortage is anticipated to be the most severe. The school will eventually have around 100 students studying there.
