(KNSI) – Absentee voting is underway in Stearns County to replace retired District 4 Commissioner Leigh Lenzmeier.

Six candidates are running in the primary, which will wrap in August. The top two vote-getters would then advance to the general election in November. District 4 includes the southern section of St. Cloud and part of Waite Park, as well.

To vote absentee in person, head to the Stearns County Service Center at 3301 County Road 138 in Waite Park and stop by the election office. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Saturday before the election, August 9th, the office will be staffed from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Voters can cast an absentee ballot by mail. They need to first fill out an application, which is available online or it can be mailed out by the auditor-treasurer’s office. Completed applications can be mailed, faxed, or dropped off in person.

Only residents of District 4 can vote in the contest. Election day is Tuesday, August 12th.
