(KNSI) – Rapids River Days welcomes the weekend with a parade.
Over 80 units are already registered and that will include plenty of tunes. Coming from all across the state, 16 marching bands will be sprinkled throughout the procession. There will be various community organizations involved and several colorful floats.
Officials have brought together an expert panel of judges to decide which floats are decorated best. The winners will be in line for cash rewards.
The parade begins lining up at 5:00 p.m. Friday and steps off at 6:00. Out in front will be Sauk Rapids Police Chief Perry Beise, flanked by color guards from the VFW and American Legion posts. Royalty from Sauk Rapids and Sartell will be joined by pageant winners from Buffalo and other nearby cities, plus dairy princesses. There are multiple dance studios ready to perform for those lining the street. The final crescendo is a convoy of the biggest vehicles in the area. Andy’s Towing will lead Republic Services and Minnesota Truck Headquarters to the finish line.
The parade runs along 6th Avenue, beginning at 11th Street North.
