(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Fire Department will bring back its popular mobile splash pad to Rotary Park East on July 12th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., teaming up again with the St. Cloud Park and Recreation department to help people cool off with some summer fun.

The concept is simple but exciting, as SCFD Chief Matt Love explained to KNSI News. “We bring out one of our large tower ladder trucks and hook it to a hydrant, and then we spray water down for kids to run through. It’s kind of like running through a giant sprinkler system. What kid does not like to run through the sprinklers? Ours can just flow a lot more water faster.”

Additionally, there will be lawn games where families can hang out with firefighters and police officers. The free event requires no registration; just bring a towel and get ready to get wet.

Love says the experience is enjoyable for all ages and gives high praise to the collaborative effort behind it. “I can’t say enough about the event. It really is a slam dunk for our community, and I give a lot of accolades to both police, fire and our park department, who all dreamed this one up to provide it.”
