(KNSI) – The Initiative Foundation says 12 entrepreneurs committed to developing their local business ventures in central Minnesota have graduated from the St. Cloud Enterprise Academy.
The academy is a comprehensive program offered by the Initiative Foundation combining intensive training with complimentary ongoing business mentorship and access to flexible financing options.
“These 12 entrepreneurs dedicated themselves to learning the fundamentals of building a business-from crafting a solid business plan to managing finances and promoting their ventures,” said Zach Tabatt, vice president for economic opportunity at the Initiative Foundation. “We’re proud to continue supporting them as they grow and pursue long-term success.”
The graduates incldude Erica Cole who operates Brenda’s Place. The business provides residential and community-based health and wellness services for seniors and people with disabilities.
Aden Dekow established Waamo Cafe in 2023, specializing in Somali tea, coffee, and food, with plans to incorporate a bakery. He calls the Enterprise Academy “transformative,” crediting it with helping him develop strategic thinking about his objectives and community service approach.
Corey Evans founded Opulent Visions, a custom embroidery service launched in late 2023 with aspirations to get additional equipment for serving more diverse clientele.
Shernoveia Hinds is pursuing a nail technician certification and joined the program to acquire necessary business skills.
Devin Hyde has operated Hyde and Barrel Studio since 2024 and is preparing for expansion to move from an online-only plant specialty shop to a physical retail location in St. Cloud.
Latoria Martin runs Village Details, specializing in automotive detailing and cleaning services and hopes to create employment opportunities for for youth from underserved areas.
Glentrice Montgomery plans to establish a business providing outreach and support services for the formerly incarcerated.
Sheree Sheffield aims to launch Sheffield Logistics, offering comprehensive shipping, warehousing, and support services.
Additional graduates include Amber Goodlet, Kristen Kimbrought, Briana Pearcy, and Tyrone Reynolds.
Since launching in 2018, the Enterprise Academy has graduated approximately 300 participants, establishing itself as a cornerstone program for developing local entrepreneurial talent in the region.
