(KNSI) — The National Weather Service is warning of an increasing flood risk as multiple rounds of heavy rain continue to target the area through Thursday.

While meteorologists are still pinpointing exactly where the heaviest rain will fall, they say the St. Cloud area could pick up two to three inches, and it will come in two waves.

The first is today, with the system moving in this morning bringing in showers and thunderstorms, which could produce heavy rainfall at times. We are under a slight risk, or two out of five, for severe weather today, but conditions should improve by the evening.

The second round is expected to arrive Thursday afternoon, and we could pick up another inch or so.

Friday should dry out before another warm, wet weather pattern arrives.
