(KNSI) – Meeker County lakes are turning into no-wake zones due to recent rain.
Sheriff Brian Cruze has issued an advisory requesting boaters reduce speed to five miles per hour or less when within 300 feet of shore. The advisory is meant to minimize damage to lakefront properties.
Cruze shares that it applies to all lakes, but he specifically mentions Big Swan Lake, Lake Arvilla, Lake Erie, Lake Minnie Belle, Lake Manuella, and Star Lake as places of emphasis. Water patrol deputies have stepped up enforcement, and law enforcement has passed along the need for a temporary no-wake ordinance on the six lakes cited to Meeker County officials.
