(KNSI) – Summertime by George is ready to turn the amps to 11 with a raucous summer concert series starting Wednesday.
The slate consists of eight dates again, running through August, at Eastman Park. Put on by the St. Cloud Rotary, drinks will be allowed throughout the grounds as spectators settle in for the opening and headliner acts. Each concert runs from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m.
As we learned last year, the weather has the final say on whether performances happen according to plan. The forecast for the first concert is mostly cloudy, warm, and muggy. A chance of thunderstorms exists overnight, but should hold off for the show.
Wednesday’s concert features Pandemic, an ’80s rock/dance cover band that has developed quite a following locally. Expect energy as the group turns Eastman Park into Eden for arena anthem lovers. Pandemic is sponsored by Falcon National Bank.
The headliner will dip back to the dynamic 70’s with the sounds of Fleetwood Mac. Rumours and Dreams is an act featuring a nine-piece band fronted by Pamela McNeill. McNeill is a Minnesota Music Hall of Fame inductee who will be booked later this summer at the state fair. Her greatest inspirations include Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac, Dolly Parton, and Janis Joplin. Blaze Credit Union is sponsoring the main show.
All Summertime by George concerts are free to the public. In addition to a bar area, spectators have an opportunity to buy dinner from a host of food vendors at the Middle Town Market. There is also an activity area for the kids set up. The Rotary also runs a raffle. Buy tickets each week before the August 13th drawing. Some of the prizes include a new quartz countertop for the home, $1,000 cash, or one year of free gas.
