(KNSI) — If there is extra activity around the Monticello Nuclear Generating Facility today, it is only a drill.
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety, along with other state, county and city agencies, is conducting a simulated emergency to test the capabilities of federal, state and local agencies in the event of an incident at the plant. Officials with Xcel Energy say there is no need to be alarmed.
The exercise should be done by 5:00 p.m.
