(KNSI) – Pet owners looking to protect their furry family members can take advantage of a special opportunity when Tri-County Humane Society hosts a discounted microchip clinic.
The walk-in event will take place on Tuesday, June 17th, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the shelter located at 735 8th Street Northeast in St. Cloud. Pet owners can have their dogs or cats microchipped for just $10 plus tax. That’s half the regular price, and an appointment isn’t necessary.
The rice-grain-sized chips, implanted just under the skin between a pet’s shoulder blades, contain a unique identification number that veterinarians and animal shelters can scan. The chip links back to the owner’s contact information in a national database when a lost pet is found.
The technology has proven invaluable for TCHS, which regularly uses microchip scanners to help reunite lost pets with their worried families. Unlike collars and tags that can fall off or be damaged, microchips provide a permanent connection between pets and their people.
