(KNSI) – Kids can wet a line and find what treasures swim beneath the surface all summer as members of the Lake George Fishing Club.
To join, kids just show up on Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. between now and August 15th at the lake’s boathouse on the east side. Kids can have a little catch-and-release fun, plus enjoy other activities and free giveaways. There’s no registration or cost.
Equipment and bait will be provided, and staff will be on hand to help put the wrigglers on the hook and handle the fish. Anglers 16 and older need a fishing license.
The club has something extra special planned on July 25th for the first-ever “Badges & Bobbers” event. Local first responders will trade their usual duties for fishing rods, teaching kids how to cast a line, share stories and build connections with community heroes and future leaders that will ripple beyond the lake’s edge.
The fishing club is also holding its first Badges & Bobbers event on July 25th. Kids and local first responders get jig together, learn fishing tips, and connect with our community heroes. Bring fishing gear, or use what’s available on a first-come, first-served basis. No registration is required to be part of Badges & Bobbers.
The fishing club also takes donations. Generous community members have been dropping off unused tackle boxes, forgotten rods, and dusty reels to the Whitney Recreation Center, breathing new life into equipment that might otherwise sit idle in garages and basements. These donations become the tools that help other families discover their fishing stories, making sure every child who wants to experience the lake can.
The St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department puts on the programs. For more information, click here.
