(KNSI) — A public hearing is set for Tuesday’s St. Cloud Planning Commission meeting for a proposed expansion of a child care center on 21st Avenue North.
The owner of Joyful Child Care has big plans for the space in the 600 block of 21st Avenue North. What started as a 2,400-square-foot facility caring for 37 kids could nearly double in size, welcoming 71 little ones under its roof. The expansion would add 1,200 square feet of indoor space and create a brand-new outdoor playground in a 4,800 square-foot fenced-in area.
The planning commission would have to approve a Planned Unit Development, essentially permitting it to expand. The commission will hear from the developers and the public at 6:00 p.m. inside City Hall.
According to the commission agenda, the staff is recommending approval.
The planning commission hears testimony and makes recommendations to the city council. The council always has the final say.
