(KNSI) — The annual review of the St. Cloud Police Department’s Community Policing Agreement is on Thursday, June 5th.

First completed in 2005, the original was the product of 12 meetings, held once per month, with top police officials, elected leaders, the faith and multi-cultural communities to address concerns surrounding the department’s appearance on a state report accusing its officers of using racial profiling. As part of the original agreement, it must be reviewed annually.

The police department is required to use an objective set of criteria to evaluate officers who may be susceptible to profiling and to track use of force responses along racial lines. Major revisions were made in 2017 and 2018 as immigration became a hot-button topic.

The meeting will take place from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at police headquarters downtown. There will be a 50 minute question and answer session followed by a brief presentation on the history of the agreement and how the department implements it into their everyday procedures.
