(KNSI) — St. Cloud will begin a major street resurfacing project Thursday, June 5th, affecting dozens of roads and potentially causing traffic delays through late July.
Residents living on affected streets should expect temporary disruptions to normal traffic patterns, though the city has indicated that through traffic will be maintained throughout the construction period.
The project will focus heavily on the city’s southwest side along Montrose Road, including Jenisa Drive, Club View Court, Golf Terrace, Devon Terrace, and Greenock Road. Several residential developments in this area will see complete street reconstruction.
Downtown will also experience significant work, with portions of 3rd Avenue South, Herb Brooks Way, 1st Avenue South, 5th Street South, and 7th Avenue South scheduled for resurfacing. The project extends from 15th Street South down to 8th Street South in the downtown corridor.
The southside will see extensive work along major routes, including sections of 10th Avenue South from 22nd Street South to Halliday Road, and Halliday Road itself from 10th Avenue South to Clearwater Road. The project also includes portions of Highway 10’s east and west frontage roads near the Highway 23 intersection.
St. Cloud’s northside residential areas will also being included, particularly around Case Lane and the West Oakes Drive corridor. Blue Jay Court, Cardinal Court, Meadowlark Court, Nightengale Court, Osprey Court, and Eagle Court are going to be affected.
The project also encompasses Cory Lane and its surrounding streets, including Mountain Ash Street North and the Parkwood Loop area.
The work involves complete bituminous resurfacing of the affected streets, which typically requires temporary lane restrictions and periodic traffic delays. While through traffic will be maintained, motorists can expect periodic minor delays and are advised to seek alternate routes when possible.
City officials anticipate project completion by late July 2025, though the timeline depends on weather conditions.
The city’s website, which can be accessed by clicking here, will provide updates on project progress and any significant impacts.
