(KNSI) – After Mother Nature washed away last week’s Metro Bus Roadeo in St. Cloud, drivers are getting ready to saddle up next month.

The event will be held on June 6th. Drivers must navigate a timed obstacle course made of orange road cones, complete an acceleration requirement, and pass other tests that mimic real-life driving scenarios. Competitors are scored based on avoiding cones, minimizing stops and starts, maintaining optimal distance from obstacles, and more.

They will compete in two categories, determined by the bus size. Fixed Routes are the city buses you see moving from stop to stop around town. The Dial-a-Ride division is for the smaller vehicles.

The roundup is at the K-Lot on the St. Cloud State University campus, next to the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Winners advance to the state and potentially international competitions.
