(KNSI) – The Cold Spring Fire Hall project is on time and on budget.
Donlar Construction Project Manager Nate Bell delivered the good news to the city council at Wednesday’s meeting. There was an issue where they unexpectedly found granite bedrock that had to be blasted away last fall. The additional expense was taken care of by the contingency that was set aside for unforeseen expenses. Other than that, it’s been smooth sailing.
Bell says contractors have the guts of the building put up. Now it’s time for the finer details to take shape. “The floors are all poured. We got it water tight on the roof, so the roofing is completed as well. So, we’re working on the rough ends on the interior, office space area. And then we have Lakeside Masonry, is working on the exterior, doing the brick and then the granite.”
He expects the bulk of the job to be wrapped up in late summer. “We should be substantially complete by the end of August, is our goal. Right before our Labor Day, there.”
Bell explains that substantially complete means he can hand over the keys to the new owners, the Cold Spring Fire Department. The fire hall is located across from Alexander Park on Main Street.
