(KNSI) – St. Cloud Area Restaurant Week hits a high note with “Meat Lover’s Paradise” on Thursday.

Like a walk through the salami aisle of a gourmet deli, it’s all about the meat sweats. Visit Greater St. Cloud Executive Director Rachel Thompson says the theme goes beyond just burgers. The featured meal is good ol’ fashioned Texas barbeque. “Up n’ Smoke has a three-meat combo. Again, they say anything from ribs to brisket, sausages, all the sides loaded up.”

South of the border, they call a barbecue an asada. Cinco de Mayo restaurant brings that experience to central Minnesota with their California plate, with a heaping helping of chicken, chorizo, and steak.

According to Thompson, there’s even a little high-class on the cutting board and looking for a plate. “Howie’s Sports Bar and Grill downtown is really well known for their shaved rib-eye sandwich. That thing is loaded with meat on it as well.”

Of course, if only a burger will do, that’s covered. Try the traditional variety from Burger Time in Waite Park, a straightforward bacon cheeseburger. Or there is the OMG burger from 7West TapHouse. Two patties, cheese curds, and more piled high.
