(KNSI) – St. Cloud Technical & Community College went into lockdown on Monday after a student allegedly threw a punch at another during an altercation.
The St. Cloud Police Department was called around noon for an assault between two male students. One student says the other hit him and left campus before police arrived. No weapons were used, and the victim wasn’t injured.
According to a press release, the suspect caused damage to a vehicle in the parking lot and made some additional alarming comments to staff.
An email from SCTCC Communications Director Kate Wallace to KNSI News stated the alert was issued due to the incident and out of an abundance of caution, SCTCC elected to send students, faculty, and staff home for the day. SCTCC will be resuming normal operations on Tuesday morning.
The email says SCTCC takes the safety and security of its students, faculty, and staff seriously and will always default to the safety of its community first.
The SCPD is still investigating the incident and will turn their finding over to the county attorney’s office when complete.
