(KNSI) – St. Cloud’s annual Strides for Stroke Walk is coming up on May 17th as part of National Stroke Awareness Month.
CentraCare has teamed up with the Minnesota Stroke Association for the event at CentraCare Plaza. Hospital Stroke Center Nurse Angie Mascho told KNSI News they hold the event because “it is truly to get out there and try to stomp out stroke and promote that stroke awareness and honor those stroke survivors and care partners who have had a stroke.”
Mascho says the medical provider has been participating in the event for 15 years and is trying to reestablish it, explaining, “it was a bigger event before COVID. We’re kind of starting over and getting more awareness out there. So, usually within our site, we’ve seen up to 120 people. To last year, we had about 15 people for the walk.”
She says the walk is a time to bond with other stroke survivors within the community to show they’re not alone in their recovery.
The walk is free to participate in; however, the MNSA will accept free will donations. For more about Strides for Stroke, click here.
