(KNSI) – Metro Bus is struggling to take Dial-a-Ride appointments due to an internet outage.

Most of the service’s phones make calls through the World Wide Web using VoIP rather than a traditional landline. The technology is typically cheaper than other telecom options. Since the majority of phones are out of service, callers are getting a busy signal, and many attempts are not going through.

Metro Bus says to keep trying if you need a ride today. For those trying to schedule something for later in the week, it would be best to wait until phone service is back at 100%.

The issue stems from a problem in Minneapolis. A fiber cable was cut earlier today, and crews are actively working to restore the internet. Metro Bus is not aware of a timeline for when the fix will be completed.
