(KNSI) – A central Minnesota truck stop will be one of the latest places people can power up their electric cars.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation says the 12 charging stations will be located along Interstates 90 and 94. Love’s Travel Stop in Rockville is among those in the I-94 corridor getting the hookup. The others will be in Barnesville, Fergus Falls, and Lake Elmo. The I-90 thoroughfare will have stations set up in Luverne, Worthington, Jackson, Blue Earth, Albert Lea, Austin, Stewartville and St. Charles.

The project is paid for with $10 million from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. The initial round of funding was announced in July 2024. The program was part of the Biden Administration’s 2021 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, passed by Congress.
