(KNSI) – St. Cloud Post #428 will once again be participating in the national VFW Day of Service.
Commander James Tuorala says the initiative, now in its fourth year, helps show that those who served their country in uniform bring that commitment back home after their tours are over. Post #428 has found a way to make a huge difference in a short time.
“In the past, we’ve had a fundraiser for a 10-year-old boy who was battling cancer that was very successful. This year, we decided to do a food drive.”
The event will be held over two days at the post. Tuorala says, “It’s going to be at VFW Post #428, which is located on 9 18th Avenue North, just off Division Street. And we’re going to be collecting foods from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. [Friday] and then on Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.”
Donations go to St. Cloud StandDown to help vets and their families. They would eventually like to host a blood drive.
