(KNSI) – In an attempt to help save the planet, central Minnesotans can chuck their unwanted electronics during a special free event.

The Stearns County Household Hazardous Waste Facility is holding a one-day electronic recycling event on Thursday, May 15th, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or until the recycler is full. People can drop off TVs, computers, printers, scanners, and other miscellaneous items such as VCRs, DVD players, smart boards, and more. Phones, kitchen appliances, electronic razors, and outdoor or garden electronics will not be accepted.

There is a five-item limit per vehicle. This event helps keep hazardous materials out of our landfills and gives residents a convenient, responsible way to dispose of outdated or broken electronics.

The event is open to people in Stearns, Sherburne, Benton, and Mille Lacs Counties. For questions or more information, call the Stearns County HHW staff at 320-257-8605.
