(KNSI) — The special Stearns County Board of Commissioners meeting set for Monday afternoon has been cancelled.
The meeting was to discuss and consider action regarding Commissioner Leigh Lenzmeier’s “situation.”
The situation is surrounding his “cognitive mental decline,” as stated in court papers, and his ability to carry out the duties and functions of his office. There were also questions about his residency outside of Stearns County, as he had been living in a memory care facility in Wright County for nearly a year.
Wednesday afternoon, Commissioner Lenzmeier submitted his letter of retirement effective immediately. In light of his retirement, the meeting has been cancelled.
Anyone with any questions relating to the cancellation can be directed to the Stearns County Administrator’s Office at 320-656-3601.
