(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Rox Reading Program, designed to get students reading beyond the classroom, reached record-breaking participation for the fourth straight year.
More than 20,000 students from 59 elementary schools, representing 949 classrooms across 33 cities in Central Minnesota, took part in the program during the 2024-2025 school year.
Rox Managing Partner Scott Schreiner said in a press release that “The Reading Program is helping inspire thousands of kids to read outside of the classroom, and over the years we have seen how it has created a love to read for many students in our community. It’s truly a team effort between not only the students and Rox staff, but teachers, parents, school support staff, and administrators. Of course, the program isn’t where it is today without Magnifi Financial, who has been a partner with the Rox Reading Program since its inception.”
Senior Vice President of Retail Banking at Magnifi Financial echoed his sentiment, adding, “It’s incredibly rewarding to see so many students across Central Minnesota engaging with reading through this program. We’re honored to support an initiative that promotes literacy, builds confidence, and strengthens skills that students will carry with them into the future.”
In the 14 years the team and the business have been partnering, the program has now reached over 157,000 students.
The four-week initiative, held during April and May, offers fun incentives for students, teachers, and schools to foster a love of reading. Every student who completes the program receives two Rox tickets, and more than 2,800 students receive a Rox drawstring bag. Three students who meet their reading goals will each earn $250 toward a Magnifi Financial savings account. Teachers aren’t left out either. Three will receive $250 Visa gift cards to purchase classroom books, and one school will be awarded a $1,000 prize to enhance its library resources.
The Rox home opener is set for May 30th when the team takes on the Badlands Big Sticks.
