(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Fire Department responded to two separate garage fires overnight, keeping crews busy from Saturday evening into early Sunday morning.
The first call came in around 10:15 p.m. Saturday at a home in the 200 block of 31st Avenue North. Firefighters arrived to find flames in an attached garage rapidly spreading through a breezeway toward the main house. Crews launched a quick, coordinated effort to contain the fire and prevent it from consuming the home, which was unfortunately deemed uninhabitable. The Red Cross is helping the family.
Just before 5:00 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were dispatched to East Side Oil Company, where an attached garage bay was fully engulfed in flames. The fire had begun to extend to the roofline, but a quick response once again kept the damage from spreading further.
Both fires are under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office.
