(KNSI) – A new nose is on patrol in Stearns County.
Bloodhound Porter and his handler, Deputy Scott Fischer, recently completed training and certification and have begun taking cases, ready to serve and protect. Porter will join fellow bloodhound Storm and Deputy Laura Berg to upgrade the department’s tracking and search abilities.
Stearns County has the only bloodhound team in the state of Minnesota. Porter’s addition was partially financed by a campaign last November that netted around $10,000. K9 officer plushies were sold at $20 a piece.
Porter joins a legendary department to help replace Aspen, who served as a member for nine years until she retired in early 2021. Aspen passed away in March 2024.
