(KNSI) – Registration is open for a heavenly bike ride through the hills and woodlands of central Minnesota.
Bikers can sign up now for the Tour of Saints, scheduled for Sunday, July 20th. The ride starts at the Athletic Complex at the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph. Riders can choose an 18 mile course or the more challenging 35 and 50 mile courses.
Organizers say the 18 mile route features the Lake Wobegon Trail and is ideal for families and riders who prefer to avoid hills. Riders can relax at the Avon rest stop for refreshments at the halfway point before their return trip. The longer courses take bikers 12 miles to the first stop at the Cold Spring Bakery. The second stop is 25 miles into the event at Collegeville Orchards near St. John’s University. At mile 31, riders can head to the finish for a 35 mile day or charge ahead onto the 50 mile course. For those riding 50 miles, the last rest stop at Mile 40 is Avon’s city park along the Lake Wobegon Trail.
The finish line is at Bad Habit Brewing in St. Joseph. Organizers say the event draws more than 1,000 bikers a year.
The fee is $50 for adults to participate and $30 for college students. Children between five and 17 can ride for $15, and kids four and under can ride for free.
