(KNSI) – With spring break travel winding down, AAA says drivers heading out for their Easter travels can expect to pay lower prices at the pump.
Softer demand is fueling the drop with crude lower than it has been in a few years, and experts say the trend may continue into the summer driving season, too. According to the Energy Information Administration, total domestic gasoline supply decreased from 236 million barrels to 234 million, but production increased by 9.4 million barrels a day.
The national average for the price of a gallon of regular unleaded is around $3.17, which is five cents cheaper than last week, but up around a dime from a month ago.
In Minnesota, the average is around $3.06, down a penny from yesterday, about nine cents lower than last week. A month ago, we were paying $2.96.
St. Cloud drivers are paying even less. The current average is at $2.90, down three cents from yesterday, 17 cents from a week ago, and up just four cents from a month ago.
