(KNSI) – A program promoting reading to youngsters is looking to sign up more kids to reach its goal of giving the gift of literacy to 6,660 children across the region.

The United Way of Central Minnesota is looking for children ages five and under to sign up for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The United Way says it is a free program that offers families a high-quality children’s book each month from birth until their fifth birthday.

In July 2023, the United Way set a goal to increase enrollment by adding 1,000 children for two consecutive years. With the deadline quickly approaching, they need a final push from parents.
