(KNSI) – Sherburne County has provided an update on the three-vehicle crash involving a Minnesota State Patrol trooper on Wednesday night.

The series of accidents happened just after 9:00 p.m. in Clear Lake Township. A 70-year-old man from St. Cloud was driving alone in a Ford Flex, going the wrong way on Highway 10. At the intersection with 70th Avenue, he cut over to the correct side of the highway. The Flex was t-boned by a GMC Sierra pickup truck as it tried to turn into the roadway.

Three teenagers were in the truck, including a 17-year-old from Milaca behind the wheel. A trooper who lives in Clear Lake was called to respond to the wrong-way driver and didn’t realize an accident had occurred before it was too late.

The Dodge Charger hit the Flex and Sierra. Investigators believe some of the people involved in the initial accident were standing on the road when the trooper collision occurred.

A passenger in the Sierra and the trooper were treated at the hospital and released. The Flex driver was taken to CentraCare – St. Cloud Hospital. The other teenagers were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. One had life-threatening injuries.
