(KNSI) – A wrong-way driver set off a series of accidents that eventually included a Minnesota State Patrol vehicle and gravely injured one person.

Just after 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, dispatch was alerted to a vehicle going in the wrong direction on Highway 10 in Clear Lake Township. A crash occurred at the intersection at 70th Avenue. A Minnesota State Patrol cruiser was responding to the situation when it ran into at least one of the other vehicles already involved in the accident.

Five people were hurt in total, with a child hospitalized for life-threatening injuries. Sherburne County is investigating the incident on behalf of the state patrol.
