(KNSI) – St. Cloud Public Works Director Tracy Hodel has been picked as the new city administrator.
“I am honored to be selected for this role, and I am eager to contribute to our city’s continued growth and success,” said Hodel. She has spent 24 years with the city and was most recently the public services director, heading the city’s largest department with 135 full-time workers. According to a press release, the department has been recognized nationally and globally for its innovative work related to sustainability and energy under Hodel’s leadership.
As city administrator, Hodel will oversee St. Cloud’s day-to-day operations and help implement the mayor and city council’s policies and priorities.
Mayor Jake Anderson recommended her for the role after a national search. “Tracy has demonstrated exceptional leadership throughout her career with the city. Her institutional knowledge, coupled with her unwavering commitment to public service, makes her the ideal choice to lead our city’s operations moving forward. I am confident that under her leadership, our city will continue to thrive, and we will achieve our goals for the community,” said Anderson.
Hodel’s appointment will be formally presented to the city council on April 21st. Pending council approval, she will officially assume the role of City Administrator on May 12th.
Hodel will replace fire chief Matt Love, who took over on an interim basis after former administrator Matt Staehling left for the same role in Duluth.
