(KNSI) – Decision day for $65 million in proposed improvements to St. Cloud Apollo High School is almost here.
The polls in District 742 will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Residents will cast their ballots at the same place they did during the November election.
Voters will weigh in on two questions. The first asks for $50 million to make safety improvements to the 54-year-old building, such as secure entrances, a storm shelter, and fire prevention upgrades. Apollo is the only school in the district without a controlled entrance. The funds would also expand the kitchen and serving area and add new technical education, music, art and science classrooms.
The second question can only be passed if the first is approved. It calls for $15 million for an indoor multipurpose facility. The full-size turf field and walking track would allow for year-round practices and could be rented out to community groups.
If both are approved, the owner of a $250,000 home would pay $39.96 a year over the next 20 years. If only question one is approved, that cost is lowered to $28.95 a year.
